Asana- The Only Online Tool You Need

A major factor in maintaining a digital portfolio is organization. When exploring resources and collaborating with other professionals it is important to keep your information neat and sorted. Especially when you are covering a variety of topics with a significant amount of people. That is why the tech app Asana is the perfect tool to help accomplish that goal. Asana is an online organizational tool that can be installed on your desktop or downloaded as an app. Asana is modern, user-friendly and compatible with all electronic devices. It encourages collaboration by allowing you to add others emails as well as assign them a title; like manager or team member.

In The Connected Learner the author, Sheryl Nussbaum-Beach, explains that tools are used to, “for documenting and archiving learning, tools for connecting and collaborating, and tools for extending student learning” (Nussbaum-Beach 162). Asana has all those forms of tools on their server. When adding coworkers or fellow students on Asana, you gain access to the different documents and tools they have bookmarked. Also, due to Asana’s ability to have multiple groups on the app you can connect with multiple people who you may not have connected with otherwise.

As a political science major I will be working with a variety of datasets with a number of different people. Apps like Asana allow me to keep all the variables I’m working with organized and accessible to others in my group. It also breaks down all the different assignments I may be working on. Within the project currently being worked on in Asana, they put To Do Lists in the assignments that can be checked off as you finish each step. No matter what field you are working in, this level of organization is very beneficial. I first used this app while working as a front desk agent in a Spa. While using it we were able to organize our policies and keep track of different services each therapist was certified to practice as well as any upcoming events. In any environment, Asana is the perfect organizational tool.

No matter the profession or academic career you are in, having the ability to keep track of your digital tools are vital. Organizing the various websites, blogs, or other content you interact with is useful in furthering your education. Asana allows people the space and platform to accomplish this as well as expand in their fields. Bookmarking and collaboration is important when becoming a connected learner or educator.
